Vote For Venus – Philippine’s Bet To The Ms. Universe Contest

Our country’s bet for this year’s Ms. Universe contest, Venus Raj will need all our support, as she represents the country in the prestigious beauty contest to be held on August 23 at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. This will be aired live via satellite on ABS-CBN and on Studio 23 at 7:00 p.m., and also on Velvet (channel 53 on the SkyCable network) at 6:30 p.m.

A proud Bicolana, Venus Raj first became a public icon of beauty when she won the Miss Bicolandia in 2007. In 2008, she was crowned Miss Philippines Earth Eco Tourism, and later on, successfully bagged the Bb. Pilipinas Universe crown.

One of the hurdles that Venus had to overcome in her journey to the throne, was when she was dethroned by the Binibinang Pilipinas organizers last March 29, after some “alleged” discrepancies were found on her birth certificate records. The matter was finally laid to rest and she regained her throne last April 10, after she complied with the organizers’ requirement of presenting a Philippine passport.

Today, she is all set to vie for the title of Ms. Universe, with other 82 hopeful candidates from all corners of the world. Her humble beginnings as a country lass from Bicol, inspires her to excel beyond her means and strive for the glory of bringing the crown to millions of Filipinos who are also hoping for her success.

Filipinos all over the world can support Venus online by logging online at www.missuniverse.com, and clicking on her picture under the “Contestants” area. Give her 5 stars and you will receive a confirmation that your vote was successfully counted. With the magic of social networking, Filipinos can reach out to their friends and spread the word, and surely that will give Venus an edge over her other competitors.

She is one determined lady, and the mere fact that she is now in Las Vegas, representing our country, is by itself an achievement. Kudos to Venus, and the millions of Filipinos whom she inspires with her incredible story of overcoming obstacles and claiming victory!
